The Hexagon Baby Cardi 'Recipe'.

The Front...

The back... as you can see I've joined with dc in a cc.  The nice thing about this 'pattern' is that you are working into actual stitches and not estimating edges, etc.

I cannot claim any credit for this 'recipe'. It has been doing the rounds for a while and this is my personal 'take' on it.
Note: this is UK terminology - my trebles are US doubles.
Make two the same.
Chain six and S/S join, or do a magic loop (preferred).  Ch 3 = first treble, work 17 trebles in ring (making 18 in total).  S/S join. Ch 3 (= first treble), work treble in same space, then two tr's in each st. S/S join. Now you should have 36 sts and the thing should be looking fairly wobbly and starting to ruffle.  That's good.

In this pic I have flattened it out so you can see the first two rounds.
Now, 3 ch as first treble again (and throughout the rest of the pattern) and work 4 more trebles (five altogether).  In the 6th stitch - remember the 3 chains counted as the first st - work *2 tr, 2ch, 2tr all in the one stitch then work a further 5 tr's.  Rep't from * to end of round so you have 6 increases with 5 trebles between each one (see above - it's the beige row).
S/S join, 3 ch. Now, work tr's along, but in each 2 tr of the 2tr-2ch-2tr group work a 2tr-2ch-2tr group - and do this in every subsequent row. You should be able to see this in the orange/red row.
Depending on the yarn, and the size of the baby, anything from 10-12 rows should do it...

The piece should look wa-ay too wobbly - that's what you want.
Now, fold a finished piece in half... not like this...

...move it around a little till it makes an L-shape... like this:

Do the same with the other one - there's an almost-finished jacket - this is one half.

Finishing instructions to follow...
Beware, though... that you check the number of sts in your joining row - I ended up with too many and now I have to frog... and it looks untidy - I may have to look at that again...
