Take one cork mat - courtesy of Clas Ohlson. Work a number of chain, slip stitch join, then 3 ch for your first treble (US DC).
Make 12 groups of 3 trebles and 2 chain. Make another the same...Join in a zig-zag - 5 chain, dc (or slip stitch) in each alternate 2-chain space, sliding the mat between the two once you're just over half-way round.
Before fastening off, work some chain and join with a slip stitch to make the hanger.
Was it worth it? Not sure... I did think of poking the brooches directly into the cork, but I think that would have damaged them.
